A global, novel virus is changing the way we work, live, play, and serve. It is keeping us contained in our homes—maybe for months— and is already reorienting our relationship to government, to the outside world, even to each other.
These times are unprecedented, and it calls for us to establish our priorities and begin to truly realize that it is our relationships with each other that keep us grounded. And more than ever, perhaps, we are noticing that there are people in dire need right now who do not have the resources to basic amenities, food, or transportation. These are people – children, mothers, fathers, people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, families – who need all able-bodied people with the resources and health to do so, to stand in the gap for them.
The only way we are going to get through this is by leaning on each other. There are many opportunities to step up and stand in the gap to get needed resources to the people who need them most.
In order to prioritize our efforts, we will focus on two things:
- Work with several of our community, philanthropic, and corporate partners to focus on the issue of food insecurity to help ease the pain of preparing food for those families in high-need areas in our city. If you know of an organization, family, or community who could use more meals, please have them use this form to get on our distribution list. Click here to access our food distribution form.
- Offer our services of volunteer recruitment and management and project facilitation to our nonprofit partners to redirect our diverse volunteer pool to meet needs those partners are addressing in their community – this includes FREE use of our innovative volunteer management and learning management technologies to efficiently train and mobilize your volunteers during this time of need. Does your organization need support for volunteer engagement? Simple – email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your need(s) and we will get you started right away!
(As we learn more about the needs of the community, and as more partnership opportunities present themselves, there may be opportunities in the future to address other issues people are experiencing. Stay tuned.)
