Our mission is to stand in the gap for vulnerable populations while empowering youth to actively transform their communities. In our ten-year history, we have come to realize that success is not achievable alone. We all have a story of a person who took a risk, someone who imagined a life greater than what we could, someone who stood in the gap. This show shares those ‘someones.’ Those unsung heroes who pushed us when we could have settled for what is. 

Stood in the Gap focuses on the journey of where leaders were before they achieved their goals. It’s stories often left untold, yet those stories made the difference between giving up and pressing on. And in those moments, what made all the difference? The words said. Each leader on our show shares what was said in their darkest moments, catapulting them out of the darkness and into who they are today. 

What were those words? And why were they said? And more importantly what happened next. That’s what we’ll find out.

Our Show’s Host: Derrin Slack, Founder & CEO

After having great success, serving over 20,000 people and connecting schools, businesses, and nonprofits together, Slack allowed pride and ego to take priority over his purpose and mission.

As a result, his board of directors was forced to walk away. That mistake, severed relationships with the end of ProAct looming. When Slack felt like giving up, one person emerged and the words, “I’m not giving up on you,” is what catapulted him to overcoming the loss of relationships and a headline that threatened his reputation.

Instead of throwing in the towel. Slack remembered who he was called to become reflecting on his trip in college, coupled with the belief from an influential leader, he remembered his why. This show is reflection of our Founder’s own journey while also sharing the stories of other leaders. And who they were before they achieved their goals.
